Kim Gun-hee Special Investigation Team Halts Execution of Arrest Warrant for Yoon… Concerns of 'Physical Clash' on Scene
The Kim Gun-hee Special Investigation Team (led by Special Prosecutor Min Jung-ki) has temporarily suspended the execution of an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-yeol. This decision appears to have been made in response to strong resistance from the suspect at the scene, raising concerns about physical clashes and injuries.
On the morning of the 7th, the Special Investigation Team released an official statement explaining, “Around 8:25 AM, we attempted to execute the arrest warrant at the Seoul Detention Center using physical force; however, due to the suspect's strong refusal and the concerns from the scene regarding potential injuries, we decided to suspend the execution around 9:40 AM.”
Attempted Forced Execution… 'Suspect' Yoon Firmly Refuses
The arrest warrant issued that day marked the first-ever forced detention procedure against a former president since the establishment of the Special Prosecutor Law, intensifying the pressure on former President Yoon, who is currently detained at the Seoul Detention Center.
The Special Investigation Team arrived at the detention center in the morning without prior notice, with plainclothes investigators prepared for the possibility of using physical force during the execution of the warrant.
However, former President Yoon strongly refused, and it has been reported that the detention center communicated potential risks of physical clashes to the Special Investigation Team.
