[Breaking News] Former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s Arrest Warrant Denied… Insurrection Special Investigation “Demands Appearance on the 28th at 9 AM”

The court has dismissed the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-youl requested by the special prosecutor for the insurrection case.

The special prosecutor had requested the arrest warrant on charges including obstruction of special public duties, but the court dismissed it on the grounds that former President Yoon expressed his willingness to comply with the summons.

On the evening of the 25th, the insurrection special prosecutor officially announced, "The court dismissed the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-youl, as the accused has indicated his willingness to respond to the special prosecutor's summons."

Accordingly, the special prosecutor stated, "We have notified former President Yoon and his lawyer to appear on June 28 at 9 a.m." and emphasized that if he does not comply with the request, they will reconsider filing for another arrest warrant.

Prior to this, at about 5:50 p.m. on the 24th, the insurrection special prosecutor had filed an arrest warrant with the Seoul Central District Court for former President Yoon.

Former President Yoon is accused of ordering the Presidential Security Service to prevent the execution of his arrest warrant. He is also facing charges for allegedly instructing the Security Service to remotely delete encrypted messages from key military commanders mobilized for martial law, which is considered abuse of authority under the Presidential Security Act.

With the dismissal of this arrest warrant, former President Yoon will be investigated without being detained for the time being. However, if he fails to comply with the designated appearance date set by the special prosecutor, there is a possibility of another arrest warrant being filed, which draws attention to the future progress of the investigation.
