Firefighter Who Responded to Itaewon Tragedy Found Dead 10 Days After Going Missing

A firefighter who showed signs of depression after engaging in rescue operations at the Itaewon tragedy site was found dead 10 days after going missing.

On the 20th, the Gyeonggi Siheung Police reported that at around 12:30 PM, they discovered a firefighter in his 30s, referred to as A, beneath a bridge along the Gyeonggi-do Siheung City section of the Metropolitan Expressway No. 1.

At the time of the discovery, A was reported to be deceased. Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of his death.

Signs of Depression After the Itaewon Tragedy… Received 12 Psychological Treatments

A was involved in rescue operations during the Itaewon tragedy that occurred on October 29, 2022.

Following the tragedy, he exhibited symptoms of depression and was said to have received a total of 12 treatments, including psychological therapy supported by the Fire Agency.

The family stated, "He felt guilty for not being able to rescue more people at the tragedy site."

Search Initiated After Missing Person Report… Tragic Conclusion

Previously, on the 10th, A's family reported him missing after he left home, prompting police to commence a search.

However, after ten days, the unfortunate news was conveyed.
