Teen Brothers Who Rescued Elderly Man from Water Receive Certificate of Appreciation from Chungju Fire Department

The story of 'brave' brothers who rescued an elderly man in his 80s from 'Hoam Lake' in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, has been shared.

On the 2nd, the Chungju Fire Department in North Chungcheong Province announced that they presented a certificate of appreciation to the teenage brothers for their quick judgment in rescuing the man who had fallen into the water.

The heroic rescuers, 17-year-old Kim Kyu-min and his 15-year-old brother Kim Tae-hwan, discovered Mr. A, an elderly man in his 80s, floating in the water at Hoam Lake in Chungju at 10:17 PM on the 21st of last month.

The brothers immediately reported the incident to emergency services and shouted loudly to alert those around them for help. Without hesitation, they jumped into the water to safely rescue Mr. A from the water.

According to the investigation, Mr. A had slipped and fallen into Hoam Lake. Fortunately, the spot where the incident occurred was not deep, which allowed the brothers to carry out the rescue effectively.

Chungju Fire Chief Jeon Mi-keun expressed deep gratitude for the brothers' courageous actions. He stated, "The actions of these two teens go beyond simple bravery, demonstrating exemplary practical citizenship for others," adding, "I deeply appreciate their calmness and warm concern shown in a critical situation."
