BOYNEXTDOOR returns with a breakup song. They are set to make a comeback in the New Year, with their first digital single “I LOVE YOU Only Today” to be released on the 6th of next month.
“I LOVE YOU Only Today” is a dance track depicting the realistic aftermath of a breakup in a cheerful way. It combines self-deprecating lyrics about post-breakup blues with a melody based on band sounds.
BOYNEXTDOOR has crafted their own ‘Gen Z breakup song,’ showcasing an upbeat charm, breaking away from the stereotype that breakup songs are sad. They previously gained empathy through relatable music.
They sang about the sense of loss after a first love (It’s Like), the frustration from unreciprocated love (Earth, Wind & Fire), and the grounded confidence of youth approaching their twenties (Nice Guy).
These songs conveyed universal experiences and emotions. With witty lyrics they’ve penned themselves, they showcased their unique identity. For this comeback, they prepared by working on new songs despite their busy schedule.
They plan to continue their upward trend. BOYNEXTDOOR achieved a million-seller status with their mini 3rd album ‘19.99’ released in September. This time, they open the new year with a fresh breakup sentiment.
Meanwhile, BOYNEXTDOOR will perform at TV Asahi’s ‘Music Station Super Live 2024’ on the 27th and, as the first K-pop boy group, at Nippon TV’s ‘Announcement! Most Listened Songs of the Year ~Annual Music Awards 2024~’ on the 28th.
