Bomb Threat Incident at Women's Universities Leads to Student Evacuations

On the 7th, a bomb threat email stating that 'explosives have been installed' was received by Sungshin Women's University and Gwangju Women's University, resulting in the emergency evacuation of students and staff.

The police promptly dispatched personnel to conduct a search for explosives.

According to the Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul, at approximately 12:50 PM on the 7th, a report was made to 112 indicating that "an email claiming that dynamite has been installed was received from Sungshin Women's University located in Donam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul." The email had been sent to the university's official email address at 11:42 PM on the 4th, and the sender claimed to be a member of 'Men's Alliance.'

The threatening email contained alarming details, stating, "I have installed 10kg of dynamite at one university," and "it is scheduled to explode at 3:34 PM."

The police prioritized student safety, immediately evacuating all students on campus and deploying a special police unit to conduct a comprehensive search for explosives in collaboration with the firefighting authorities.

Simultaneous Threats Targeting Women's Universities

On the same day, a similar incident occurred in Gwangju. At approximately 11:30 AM, the Lifelong Education Center at Gwangju Women's University, located in Gwangsan-gu, received a bomb installation threat email.

It has been reported that an official from the Lifelong Education Center received an email stating, "Dynamite has been installed. It will be detonated at approximately 3:32 PM," and subsequently reported it to the police.

The Gwangju police immediately dispatched a response team to the scene upon receiving the report to search for suspicious objects and implemented evacuation measures for citizens' safety.

As of now, no actual explosives have been discovered at either university. The police plan to expand their investigation, including examining the connection between the two incidents, verifying the authenticity of the threatening emails, and tracing the origin of the messages.
