The film "Black Nuns" (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) has taken the lead at the box office during the Lunar New Year holiday. Upon release, it immediately reached the number one spot in the box office rankings.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, "Black Nuns" was watched by 163,725 viewers on its first day (the 24th). It topped the box office charts.

"Black Nuns" is a spin-off of "The Priests" (2015, directed by Jang Jae-hyun). The movie tells the story of people who engage in forbidden rituals to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.

The film has received praise for the electrifying performances of the actors and its impressive mise-en-scène. Notably, "Black Nuns" marks the first time Song Hye-kyo has taken on an occult film. She plays Sister Junia, a free-spirited nun.

Song Hye-kyo pours her heart into saving a boy, delivering a thrilling exorcism scene. Her collaboration with Jeon Yeo-bin (as Michaela) leaves a lasting impression.

It is expected to benefit from the holiday season audience influx. As of 9:30 AM, the real-time reservation rate for "Black Nuns" is 37.2%. Approximately 200,000 people have already booked tickets to watch the movie. It is anticipated that the movie will surpass one million viewers during the holiday period.

On this day, "Hitman 2" (directed by Choi Won-sub) was pushed to second place, attracting about 69,000 viewers. It continues to hold the second spot in ticket reservation rates.
