“Barbed wire cut at ammunition depot”… Signs of ‘outsider’ intrusion at Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong military base

Gyeonggi-do's Gwangmyeong City Military Facility Exhibits Signs of Civilian Intrusion

Signs of intentional damage to the barbed wire at a military facility in Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province, have been discovered, prompting police to launch an investigation.

According to the Gwangmyeong Police Station on the 13th, a report was received around 8 a.m. stating that “a civilian has infiltrated the military base.”

The person who reported the incident is affiliated with the base and reportedly discovered a break in the outer barbed wire located about 250 meters from the ammunition depot, leading to the report.

Military police, regular police, and city officials have been deployed to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident, and efforts are underway to track down the suspect. The barbed wire installed near the ammunition depot remains intact, and no signs of intrusion into the depot have been found.

Police and the military base… "Currently pursuing the suspect"

In CCTV footage from the scene, the suspect is seen wearing a gray hat, a navy short-sleeve shirt, digital wristbands, and black long pants while carrying an eco bag.

On the same day, at around 11:51 a.m., Gwangmyeong City issued a disaster text alert stating, "Signs of intrusion into a military facility have been discovered. Please report any suspicious individuals to the nearby police station."

A police official stated, "We are currently responding in conjunction with military authorities," adding that "it is a sensitive matter, so specific details are difficult to provide."
