Seoul Asan Medical Center Performs Major Surgery
It has been reported that Baek Hyun-jin, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party who was attacked last year, eventually underwent major surgery due to being unable to endure the 'aftereffects'.
Representative Baek is said to have undergone a surgery known as 'craniotomy,' which involves opening the skull to treat aftereffects.

According to opposition lawmakers on the 17th, Baek underwent a surgical procedure at Seoul Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul earlier this month to open part of her skull.
Persistent headaches, hearing impairment, and decision for surgery after detailed examination
Since the attack incident on January 2024, Baek has reportedly struggled with hearing impairment, dizziness, and headaches, making her regular legislative activities difficult.
After visiting various hospitals, it was confirmed during a recent detailed examination at Seoul Asan Medical Center that some bones in the base of her brain were damaged, leading to the surgical procedure for recovery.
A representative from Baek's office stated, "The pain became so severe that it interfered with her work, leading to the need for major surgery. She is currently focused on her quick recovery after being discharged."

Perpetrator of the attack sentenced to probation
On January 25 last year, Representative Baek was attacked by a teenage student in a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, receiving 17 blows with a blunt object.
The perpetrator's side claimed mental incapacity during the investigation, but the court did not accept this and sentenced him to 1 year in prison with a 2-year probation and mandated supervision in February of this year.
With the news of this surgery, the repercussions and aftereffects of the incident are once again drawing attention.
