“Attention Seoul Citizens Who Are Thinking About Late-Night Snacks!”… How to Get Up to 30% Off When Ordering Chicken Delivery

Seoul City Implements Chicken Discount Policy Through Public Delivery App

Seoul citizens can now receive discounts of up to 30% when ordering chicken through a public delivery app.

On the 25th, the Seoul City government announced the introduction of the 'Seoul Delivery + Price System' in collaboration with major chicken franchises and Shinhan Bank.

The 'Seoul Delivery + Price System' mentioned in the announcement today offers various discount benefits to consumers who order food from partner stores on the public delivery app 'Seoul Delivery + Ddaeng-geo-yo'.

Initially, the policy will be piloted in the chicken franchise sector, with plans to expand into various dining industries in the future.

The key element is 'price sharing'. When consumers order chicken through the 'Seoul Delivery + Ddaeng-geo-yo' app, the Seoul City government provides a delivery-only gift card (up to 15%), Shinhan Bank offers a discount coupon (5%), and the franchise headquarters adds an additional discount of up to 10% through their own promotions.

Through this system, chicken prices can be reduced by up to 30%.

Mitigating Chicken Price Burden and Participating Brands

Currently, chicken sold on major delivery apps approaches 30,000 KRW, including delivery fees. The Honey Combo from Kyochon Chicken costs 23,000 KRW, but with additional delivery fees from major apps like Baedal Minjok, Coupang Eats, and Yogiyo, the price rises to over 28,000 KRW.

Similar price ranges are found with BBQ's Golden Olive Chicken (23,000 KRW) and BHC's Ppullingkeul (21,000 KRW).

Eighteen major domestic chicken brands, including BHC, BBQ, Gungne Chicken, Nene Chicken, Pura Chicken, and Mom's Touch, are participating in this discount policy.

A Seoul City official expressed optimism, stating, "The chicken industry accounts for about 39% of all orders on delivery apps, so we expect this policy to serve as a catalyst for promoting the use of public delivery apps and expanding it to other dining sectors."

Future Expansion Plans and Usage Instructions

Starting with the chicken sector, Seoul City plans to expand the discount policy to various industries such as snacks, pig's feet, and Chinese food in the future. Additionally, the city aims to enhance the expansion of partner stores and integrate payment services through collaboration with Shinhan Bank.

To take advantage of the discount benefits, consumers must install the 'Seoul Delivery + Ddaeng-geo-yo' app. This app can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store and can also be linked with Seoul Pay Plus or Shinhan Bank's SOL app.

Furthermore, Seoul City plans to provide a new 20 billion KRW 'Seoul Delivery Co-Existence Fund' starting in June for self-employed individuals entering the 'Seoul Delivery + Ddaeng-geo-yo' platform.

Shinhan Bank will contribute 1.6 billion KRW for the guarantee fund, and Seoul City will support operating funds through low-interest loans. Eligibility for applications is for 'Seoul Delivery + Ddaeng-geo-yo' partner stores that record a certain level of sales, and further details can be checked on the Seoul City website in June.
