“Are you cheating on my daughter?”… Mother-in-law plays ‘affair video’ at the school where her son-in-law works.

Video of Son-in-law's Infidelity Released by 50-Year-Old Woman at School, Fined

The prosecution has requested a fine for a 50-year-old woman who released inappropriate videos at a school where her son-in-law and his affair partner work.

On the 8th, the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office requested the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 9 (Presiding Judge Jeon Hee-sook) to impose a fine of 1 million won on A (58, female), who has been charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (distribution of recordings using a camera, etc.).

A's daughter, B, who was also charged, is facing a fine of 500,000 won. A is accused of playing the video depicting the inappropriate relationship between her son-in-law and his affair partner twice in the principal's office of a high school in Jeollanam-do on May 15, 2023.

B is accused of discovering the video on her husband’s mobile phone on May 7 of the same year and sending it to her mother, A.

Shocked Mother and Daughter Plead for Leniency in Court

According to the investigation, A played the video while visiting the school to submit a petition against her son-in-law and his affair partner. It was confirmed that this school is where A's son-in-law and his affair partner work together.

During the trial, A and B pleaded for leniency from the court. A stated, "I was so shocked at the time that I might have acted irrationally," and explained, "I only intended to use the video as evidence and never watched it all the way through."

B also expressed, "I was greatly shocked to learn that my spouse had filmed inappropriate videos shortly after we got married. I tried to handle the situation as wisely as I could, but I am sorry that it ended up like this."

The first-instance sentencing for these two will take place on August 21.
