Office Noise Issues Causing Conflict Among Workers
On the 25th, a woman in her 50s conveyed her stress from office noise issues to JTBC's 'Incident Manager.' She works in a small and casual company, and until a few months ago, they used to work with the radio playing, but due to equipment issues, they no longer use it.
However, about a month ago, an employee at the adjacent desk started bringing a personal speaker to work and listening to music.

Initially, she thought it wasn't a big issue, but as time went on, the employee increased the volume and even began to sing along. The woman requested, "Please turn it down or turn it off," but the employee retorted, "I don't think it's loud."
Later, the company president passed by and remarked, "You're a singer, a singer," which the employee took as praise and started singing even louder.
Eventually, unable to bear it any longer, she directly told him, "Sing at home or go to a karaoke," but received a derogatory remark, "old lady," in response.

When she stated, "Then you should go to a company with young people," he shot back, "You should go instead," showcasing his disrespectful attitude. Regarding the situation, she expressed her frustration by asking, "Should I let him sing? Or am I being too sensitive?"
Noise issues in the office are one of the main causes of conflict at work. Such problems are especially prevalent in open-plan offices where personal space is limited.
Experts advise that clear company policies and communication are necessary to resolve noise issues. They also emphasize the importance of understanding and consideration among employees.

Recent studies have shown that noise can reduce work efficiency and increase stress and anxiety. Therefore, it is vital for companies to take appropriate measures.
Possible solutions for reducing noise include recommending headphone usage and banning personal speaker use.
