‘Alien’ Tops for 4 Weeks… ‘Veteran 2’ Aims for Chuseok Holiday

The Hollywood sci-fi horror movie 'Alien: Romulus' has once again topped the box office.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'Alien: Romulus' attracted around 119,000 viewers over the past weekend (6th-8th), maintaining its box office lead.

The movie was released on the 14th of last month and has been holding the number one spot for four weeks. The cumulative audience count stands at 1,832,487. In second place is the documentary 'Goodbye, Grandpa,' which tells the story of panda Fu Bao and their caretaker, chosen by 88,792 viewers.

The top position held by 'Alien: Romulus' is expected to change soon. 'Veteran 2,' directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, is set to make a strong showing during the Chuseok holiday break after a nine-year hiatus.

As of 10:18 a.m. on the 9th, 'Veteran 2' topped the reservation rate at 66%, with 228,810 reservations, significantly outpacing the second place 'Victory' (8.1%), signaling a solo run.

'Veteran 2' is an action crime investigation drama. Detective Seo Do-cheol (played by Hwang Jung-min), known for catching bad guys to the end, and rookie detective Park Sun-woo (played by Jung Hae-in) chase a serial killer. The movie will be released in theaters on the 13th.
