A family tragedy escalated into a property dispute as a man in his 40s wielded a weapon against his cousin sister, resulting in injury.

The police filed a request for an arrest warrant for the man on suspicion of attempted murder.

On the 21st, the Seongnam Sujeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, who attacked his cousin sister with a weapon.

According to police investigations, Mr. A is accused of wielding a weapon against his cousin sister, Ms. B, a woman in her 50s, on the street in front of an apartment in the Sujeong District of Seongnam City around 4 PM the day before.

At the time of the incident, Mr. A, under the influence of alcohol, approached the victim's residence and engaged in a verbal confrontation. When Ms. B felt threatened and attempted to flee, Mr. A allegedly pulled out a weapon he had on him and pursued her to launch an attack.

Fortunately, during this urgent situation, a citizen who heard Ms. B's desperate cry for help bravely intervened and subdued Mr. A.

The police, responding to the citizen's report, apprehended Mr. A at the scene as a flagrant offender.

During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I committed the crime because Ms. B was squandering my mother's property." This tragic case can be seen as an unfortunate example of a property dispute escalating to violence within a family.

Ms. B was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained to her upper body and is currently in a stable condition with no threat to her life.

The police are conducting further investigations to determine the exact motive and circumstances surrounding Mr. A's actions based on his statements and plan to forward the case to the prosecution once the investigation is completed.
