“Additional Triggering of Son Pleading ‘Please Save Me’… The Truth Behind the ‘Songdo Priest Gun Murder Case’ Has Been Revealed”

Shocking Truth of Incheon Songdo Homemade Gun Murder Incident

A man in his 60s, Mr. A (62), killed his son Mr. B (33, deceased) with a homemade gun, a tragedy attributed to economic conflicts and delusions.

According to the indictment of the homemade gun case in Incheon Songdo obtained by News1 from the office of the National Assembly member Joo Jin-woo of the People Power Party on the 25th, it was revealed that Mr. A received a total of 6.4 million won in living expenses over about two years, receiving 3.2 million won each month from both his ex-wife and son B from August 2021 to September 2023.

Mr. A is facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and violation of firearms and explosives law.

Investigations revealed that after his common-law relationship with his ex-wife ended in 2015, Mr. A had been supported monthly by his ex-wife and son, receiving approximately 3.2 million won, which he used for entertainment and living expenses.

However, when his ex-wife became aware of the overlapping living expenses, she halted the payments from November 15, 2023, for the duration they had been overlapping.

Even after the living expenses were stopped, Mr. A did not engage in job-seeking or economic activities, and since January of the previous year, he had been borrowing money for living expenses from his sister to barely make ends meet.

During this time, Mr. A began to fall into a delusion that his ex-wife had deceived him and had planned to cut off financial support as he aged, leaving him unprepared.

He even stated during police questioning, "They conspired among themselves to set me up."

Intricate Crime Plan and Brutal Execution

In reality, Mr. A's troubles stemmed from his laziness and dissolute lifestyle after divorcing due to a sex crime case in 1998, but he blamed all his issues on his ex-wife and son B.

Ultimately, Mr. A resolved to murder his ex-wife and her family, whom he believed were beloved by her.

While looking for tools to commit the crime, he concluded that using a knife against his son B, a robust adult, would make achieving his goal difficult.

In August of last year, after watching homemade gun-related videos on YouTube, he recalled having around 180 shotgun shells he purchased over 20 years ago and had stored in his warehouse.

Mr. A purchased tools for making the homemade gun through an online shopping mall and conducted ignition tests using detonators at his residence to verify the feasibility of his plan.

Furthermore, since he had not driven for about 10 years, he deemed it necessary to practice driving and prepared meticulously for his crime by practicing three times.

On the day of the incident, July 20, at around 8:53 PM, while hosting his birthday party, he left his son B's home, saying he would go to a convenience store, and retrieved two ignition devices, four gun barrels, and about 15 shotgun cartridges from a parked vehicle in a public parking lot.

In the corridor in front of the entrance, after loading the gun barrels with ammunition, he immediately shot the homemade gun at his son B, who answered the door.

Despite B pleading, "Please save me," leaning against the wall, Mr. A fired the homemade gun again at his son's right chest area.

Following this, Mr. A was found to have attempted to kill four additional individuals, including B’s wife and two children, as well as a foreign home tutor.

When the foreign home tutor fled through the front door, he fired the gun at her and was found to have forcefully pushed open the locked door where his daughter-in-law and grandchild were hiding.

Mr. A's plans did not stop there.

He also installed 15 flammable materials, including bottles of thinner, detergent, and milk containers, along with igniters in his apartment located in Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, intending to detonate them.

This was investigated as an attempt to burn and eliminate the belongings of his ex-wife and son that were left in the house.
