Actor Song Jae-rim has passed away at the age of 39. Song Jae-rim was found dead at his home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, around 12:30 pm on the 12th. It is known that he had a lunch appointment with a friend that day. The friend visited Song Jae-rim's residence and reported it to the police.
The cause of death has not been disclosed. A police official stated to the press, "There is no suspicion of homicide as of now." The family of the deceased said, "We wish to have a small funeral with family," and refrained from further comments.
The sudden news has left the entertainment industry in mourning. Actor Park Ho-san posted on social media, "I can't believe it. I'm really sorry for not being able to care," along with a photo with the deceased. Jung Eun-pyo, who worked with Song on MBC-TV's 'The Moon Embracing the Sun', uploaded a photo taken with him on set in the past, writing, "Goodbye. I hope it's a happy journey."
Song Jae-rim's memorial altar was set up at the Yeouido St. Mary's Funeral Hall in Seoul around 5:30 pm on the same day. The funeral is scheduled for the 14th. The burial site is designated as the Seoul City Crematorium.
During his lifetime, Song Jae-rim was active in various fields. He debuted in 2009 with a minor role in the film 'Actresses', gaining public recognition with his role as Kim Jae-woon in 'The Moon Embracing the Sun'.
He also appeared on variety shows, notably on MBC-TV's 'We Got Married Season 4', where he worked as a virtual couple with Kim So-eun. He was popular for his quirky charm, which contrasted with his appearance.
Recently, he mostly met audiences on stage, participating in the play 'Wife', which concluded last February, and the musical 'The Rose of Versailles', which ended last month.
He appeared in various dramas, including the TVING original 'Woo Soo's Court' and the American OTT Rakuten Viki series 'Flower Petal Romance', alongside Nam Gyu-ri.
