A strange man is lying in bed while I’ve just returned from a convenience store with my girlfriend… An incident at an accommodation facility in Geoje Island.

A shocking room invasion incident and the lodging establishment's absurd response

Even more absurd was the establishment's lackadaisical response after the incident.

According to a report by JTBC on the 22nd, a tipster, Mr. A, experienced an unexpected situation when he visited the lodging establishment in Geoje with his girlfriend on the 26th of last month.

The couple left their room for about 10 minutes to go to a convenience store late at night, only to return and witness the shocking sight of a drunken naked man lying on their bed.

The CCTV footage from the lodging establishment clearly captured the moment when Mr. A and his girlfriend exited their room and took the elevator down, followed shortly by a man coming out into the hallway, removing his clothes, and entering Mr. A's room.

Upon returning first to the room, Mr. A discovered the naked man and immediately closed the door, then reported the incident to the police.

The cause of the incident was a malfunction of the room's locking mechanism.

Mr. A explained, "The locking mechanism of the room I was staying in was broken, allowing the man to enter."

The intruder was a guest staying in the opposite room, who stated during the police investigation that he "was too drunk and mistakenly found the wrong room."

Mr. A commented, "The man did not appear to have malicious intent, so it ended as a misunderstanding," but the real issue was the lodging establishment's response following the incident.

According to Mr. A, "Even though the police were called, the establishment offered no apology and only provided a single complimentary stay."

Even more absurd was that the owner blocked Mr. A after telling him to "take legal action."

In response, attorney Yang Ji-yeol strongly criticized the lodging establishment's lackadaisical handling of the situation, stating, "If they knew the locking mechanism was broken, they should not have assigned any guests to that room and at the very least should have informed them in advance."
