A man in his 50s posing as a police officer was caught following a citizen's report.
A man in his 50s wearing a police uniform and equipment illegally was sent to the prosecution.
On the 9th, the Goyang Police Department in Gyeonggi announced that they sent A, a man in his 50s, to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the law regulating police uniforms and equipment on the 25th of last month.
A is accused of wandering around the interior of the Hanjung University Station in Deogyang-gu, Goyang City, wearing a police spring and autumn jumper and a police auxiliary police cap around 10:56 PM on June 27. In particular, A was confirmed to be carrying a plastic replica gun and a model taser on his waist.

The report from a citizen stating, "He is wearing a police uniform, but there are no rank insignia or name tags," became a crucial clue. The police, upon receiving the report, quickly dispatched and arrested A at the scene.

Regulations on Illegal Wearing of Police Uniforms
During the investigation, A stated, "I am a member of a cosplay club and purchased police uniforms and similar equipment through overseas direct purchases." It was found that he indeed bought related equipment through overseas websites.
According to the law regulating police uniforms and equipment, a person who is not a police officer and wears or carries police uniforms or equipment or similar uniforms and equipment can face imprisonment for up to six months or fines of up to 3 million won, detention, or minor fines.
The police plan to strengthen crackdowns on the illegal distribution and use of similar police equipment.
