A rescued elephant 14 years ago came to show her baby to the rescuers.
In 2019, a story became a hot topic when a mother elephant, saved during her childhood thanks to a rescue team, grew up safely and came back to show her baby.
The protagonist of this heartwarming story that warmed the hearts of the rescue team and netizens alike is the elephant Loijuk.
Fourteen years ago, Loijuk was saved by the rescue team of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) in Nairobi National Park, Kenya, which is well-known in South Korea through the program "Infinite Challenge".
At that time, the rescuers found Loijuk, who was alone with her legs trapped in a dry and drought-stricken area in northern Kenya, and carried out the rescue.

Afterwards, she spent her adolescence with other rescued elephants and is now living the rest of her life in the wild.
SWT often brought her back to the protection center to check if she had any injuries or illnesses.
As usual, when the rescuers went to bring her for a health check, they were shocked.
She had already grown into a majestic adult elephant and brought along a small female elephant.

This action seemed to suggest that she wanted to introduce her baby to the rescuers who saved her life.
On that day, an SWT rescuer stated, “Seeing the elephant that was left alone 14 years ago being treated for her wounds with other elephants at the protection center and then returning to the wild, as well as watching her become a proper mother elephant, was an extremely proud moment.”
They named Loijuk's baby "Lili" and welcomed her into the family.
It is also reported that Loijuk and Lili were protected near the protection center until the particularly hot and dry weather passed.
Loijuk's story of introducing her baby to the rescuers who saved her seems to have touched many hearts, and it continues to be talked about even six years later.
