'Customer fleeing' after consuming 80,000 won worth of food… Sent to prosecution
A man who ordered 80,000 won worth of food at a meat restaurant in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, has been sent to prosecution after fleeing without paying.
This so-called 'dine and dash' act was ultimately caught after a police investigation.
According to JTBC's 'Case Manager' on the 1st, around 1:30 PM on the 17th of last month, a man visited the restaurant alone and ordered menus worth 80,000 won, including raw beef, cold noodles, and beer.

During the meal, the man approached the owner and engaged in a clever psychological tactic. He expressed interest by saying, “I want to start a meat restaurant. I’d like to see the butchering process in person,” and even made a sweet proposal, stating, “A friend of mine is a famous YouTuber for meat content, and I’ll come with him to promote your restaurant.”
Method of crime and police investigation process
The man's behaviors were premeditated. According to a witness's testimony, he evaded suspicion by saying “I’m going to the restroom” or “I’m going out to smoke” every time he moved from his seat.
The restaurant owner recalled, “Looking back now, it seems like it was a strategy to reassure me.”

The decisive moment came after finishing the meal. The man ordered one more bottle of beer, then said he was going outside to smoke, but he never returned.
Ultimately, the restaurant owner reported the incident to the police that evening. The police, who started an investigation, secured closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the restaurant to track the man's movements.
A witness stated, “After about a week of investigation, the police apprehended the man and sent him to the prosecution.”
