Concerns Raised About a Large Bakery in Cheonan for Forcing Baking Work at a Construction Site

Allegations have been made against the owner of a large bakery in Cheonan for continuing baking activities at a construction site where store renovations are taking place.

On the 9th, JTBC's 'Incident Report' revealed shocking information from an interior contractor, Mr. A, who claimed to have been responsible for the remodeling at the bakery.

According to Mr. A, the bakery continued to produce bread at the site of ongoing remodeling work, which had been aimed at expanding the existing kitchen for over a month.

He stated, "The bakers were literally working alongside construction workers while kneading the dough. One side was painting, and the other side was making bread," he explained.

He further claimed, "There was a task called floor sanding, which produces so much dust that you can’t open your eyes, yet they were still making bread in that state. The employees complained that they couldn't work because they were afraid the chemicals being used would fall onto the bread."

Eventually, Mr. A confronted the bakery owner, asking, "How can you conduct baking operations at a construction site?" but was told that the work had to continue because they had deliveries to other locations and department stores.

Mr. A also reported that the bakery owner insisted in a shameless manner, "If the store opens during construction, I lose ten million won, so finish the construction quickly."

However, the bakery owner claimed there was a conflict with Mr. A, asserting that "Mr. A concocted videos to extort more construction fees and defamed us."

In response, Mr. A stated, "I haven't even received 50% of the construction fees so far," and added, "I reported this because I thought the hygiene situation was too serious, separate from the lawsuit."

An official from the Food Hygiene Department of Cheonan City Hall said, "When we visited the site, nothing was being made, but we believe the evidence from the video released by Mr. A is solid, so we issued a fine of 500,000 won."

He continued, "The company has been found lacking proper documentation related to production or operations and is expected to face business suspension."
