Drunk Woman on Taehwa Bridge Railing Dramatic Rescue by Two Middle School Students

The brave actions of two middle school students who rescued a woman sitting on the railing of Taehwa Bridge in Ulsan while drunk are gaining attention.

The Ulsan Central Police Station presented certificates of appreciation and monetary rewards to two third-year students from Seongan Middle School on the 2nd. They had spotted a woman in a perilous situation while passing by on the 12th of last month and immediately reported it to the emergency number 112.

At that time, the students assessed that the woman was at great risk of falling into the river below, so they joined forces to pull her to safety with the help of a friend.

They remained at the scene ensuring the woman’s safety until a patrol car arrived. The police verified the woman's identity at the scene and safely handed her over to her family.

This incident has been recorded as the first case of rewards being granted under the "Regulations on Rewards for Reporting to 112," which came into effect in January this year.

The police stated that this regulation awards individuals who contribute to preventing crime. This event marks the first case in Ulsan, with the students' quick and courageous actions serving as an example to many.

A police official commented, "Thanks to the students' prompt report, a precious life was saved," and added, "We will continue to encourage residents to actively report to 112 to help prevent crime and protect the lives, bodies, and property of others."
