Miraculous Survival in Heavy Rain: Cow Rescued After Being Swept 30km Away

A cow that was washed away due to heavy rain in Sancheong, Gyeongsangnam-do, was rescued in Jinju after being carried approximately 30 km.

This cow was confirmed to have gone missing from a barn due to the heavy rain that lasted for five days starting on the 16th.

According to the Jinju Police Station, around 10:20 AM on the 25th, a cow floating in the water was found struggling against a cliff in the area of Sinpung-ri, Daepyeong-myeon, Jinju.

At that time, the police were in the process of searching for the last missing person in Sancheong County due to the heavy rain.

Considering the possibility that the missing person was swept away along the river, the police were searching toward Jinyangho in Jinju when they discovered the cow, which was partially submerged in the water. Fortunately, the cow was found to be in good health.

To rescue the cow, the police requested assistance from the fire department and Jinju city.

Determining that it would be difficult to rescue the cow by boat due to its weight of several hundred kilograms, the police carried out a rescue operation in collaboration with experts, including those associated with Jinju's cow wrestling competition.

The rescue team successfully completed the operation by tying a rope to the cow's horn and guiding it to swim out on its own.

Upon checking the identification number attached to the cow's ear, the police estimated that the cow likely belonged to a 60-year-old man, identified as A, who operates a livestock farm in Danseong-myeon, Sancheong County.

A representative from the Jinju Police Station explained, "We believe the cow was swept away to Jinju due to the heavy rains in Sancheong last weekend, and we plan to return it to its owner."
