Fall of a 50-Year-Old Worker at the Site of a Factory Expansion in Busan

A male worker in his 50s, referred to as A, fell from a height of 10 meters and died at a factory expansion site in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

According to the Gangseo Police Station in Busan, the accident occurred at 3:54 PM on the 8th.

At the time, A was installing internal paneling when a panel wall pipe secured by a safety belt detached, causing him to fall. He was transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

A was wearing a helmet and safety belt; however, he could not avoid the impact of the fall.

Investigation Underway by Police on Business Owner and Safety Manager… Inquiry into Violations of the Serious Accident Punishment Act

The police are investigating the business owner and safety manager of the company to which A belonged on charges of negligent homicide.

Additionally, they are confirming the working conditions and rescue efforts at the scene with eyewitnesses to ascertain the precise circumstances of the accident.

The Busan Regional Labor Office is also investigating the company for potential violations of the Serious Accident Punishment Act. Recently, there has been a series of fatal incidents due to negligence in safety management at construction and manufacturing sites, leading to an intensified investigation by the government and relevant authorities.
