Bank Employee Breaks into Home of Elderly Couple in Their 80s for Robbery… Police Arrest Suspect

A bank employee in his 30s has been arrested for breaking into the home of an elderly couple in their 80s in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province.

On the 28th, the Pocheon police announced that they are investigating a man identified as A, who has been arrested on charges of aggravated robbery.

A is accused of breaking into an apartment located in Eoryong-dong, Pocheon, around 4 a.m. that day, threatening the elderly couple, and stealing valuables and cash worth several tens of millions of won.

During this process, it is reported that the 80-year-old male homeowner sustained a wrist injury and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

According to police investigations, A, who was working at a bank in Pocheon, was arrested at his workplace. More shockingly, it was revealed that the victims were 'customers' of the bank where A was employed.

The victims reportedly had a record of visiting the bank earlier this month to withdraw cash.

The police believe that A may have planned the crime with the expectation that the cash withdrawn by the elderly couple was stored at their home.

Given that this could be a premeditated crime utilizing internal bank information, investigative authorities are conducting a more thorough investigation.

This incident, being a case of customer information abuse by a financial institution employee, highlights the need for strengthened consumer protection and personal information security in the financial sector.

The police are continuing their investigation to determine A's exact motive and circumstances regarding the crime.
