The Netflix film "War, Chaos" (screenplay by Park Chan-wook, directed by Kim Sang-man) is set to be released on October 11.
"War, Chaos" is a historical drama set against the backdrop of the Imjin War. It features the only son of Joseon's top martial family, "Jong-ryeo" (played by Park Jung-min), and his servant "Cheon-young" (played by Kang Dong-won).
The two become the closest confidants of "Seonjo" (played by Cha Seung-won) but later meet again as enemies. The story revolves around this transformation.
A launch poster was also revealed on the 6th. It depicts a hand tightly grasping a sword wrapped with red cloth, conveying the era of war and chaos.
In addition to Park Jung-min and Kang Dong-won, other trustworthy actors are also joining. Kim Shin-rok will play the righteous army soldier "Beom-dong," showcasing an unyielding determination despite hardships.
Jin Sun-kyu will portray the nobleman-turned-righteous army leader "Kim Ja-ryeong," who leads the masses amid chaos.
Jung Sung-il will take on the role of "Genshin," the brutal vanguard of Japan. Cha Seung-won will play "Seonjo," the fugitive monarch who abandoned his people during the troubled times.
Meanwhile, "War, Chaos" has been selected as the opening film for the 29th Busan International Film Festival. Han Seok, a Korean film programmer, praised it as a "sophisticated and powerful historical drama" that equally exhibits top-notch appeal in all aspects.
