Han Seok-kyu's return project to MBC has been unveiled. MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Such an Intimate Betrayal' (directed by Song Yeon-hwa) has released its first teaser poster. The premiere date has also been set for October 11.
'Such an Intimate Betrayal' is a father-daughter thriller drama. It tells the story of the nation's top profiler getting entangled in a murder case and facing his daughter's secrets amidst the investigation.
Director Song Yeon-hwa holds the megaphone. She has been recognized for her outstanding directing skills with the four-part series 'Boar Hunting.' She is considered a promising talent for MBC.
Expectations for the drama are high. It received overwhelming support from the judges in the 2021 MBC Script Contest, earning praise for its intricate storyline.
Han Seok-kyu's return has also generated buzz. He is coming back to MBC after 30 years since 'The Moon of Seoul'. He expressed his sentiments, saying, "I started my acting career at MBC. It feels nostalgic."
Han Seok-kyu plays the role of profiler Jang Tae-soo, a single father who struggles between faith and suspicion of his daughter involved in a murder case. Newcomer Chae Won-bin has been cast as his daughter.
In the poster, Han Seok-kyu displays a tormented expression. It is unclear whether he is interrogating someone or being interrogated himself, capturing the distress and confusion of his emotions and situation.
The production team raised expectations, saying, "Jang Tae-soo's story, caught between the desire to trust his child and the inevitable suspicion as a profiler, will deliver dramatic excitement and resonance."
