SBS 'Stove League' will be remade in Japan.
SBS's outsourced drama production company, Studio S, held a production and business agreement ceremony for the Japanese version of 'Stove League' at COEX in Seoul on the 28th.
The Japanese production company is NTT Docomo Studio & Live. It is a joint venture(JV) between Japanese telecommunications company NTT Docomo and entertainment agency Yoshimoto Kogyo.
Hong Sung-chang, CEO of Studio S, attended the ceremony. 'Dreams' players also added to the event. Ha Do-kwon (as Kang Doo-ki) and Cha Yeop (as Seo Young-joo) were present.
CEO Hong expressed his ambitions, stating, "Through the opportunity of co-producing and business with 'Stove League', we aim to enhance our market competitiveness in Japan."
'Stove League' aired in 2019. It tells the story of a new general manager who takes over the lowest-ranked professional baseball team, 'Dreams'. The growth narrative of the underdogs provided great inspiration.
The show recorded a highest viewership rating of 20.8%, thanks to the excellent performances of the actors and a solid storyline. It is still regarded as a masterpiece that encapsulates both commercial success and artistic value.
