It was the first time they came together. The main actors gathered in one place and acted in a friendly atmosphere. In particular, the practice session of pansori 'Sarangga' by the newcomer gave everyone goosebumps.
Kim Tae-ri seemed to have already become one with her character 'Yoon Jung Nyeon', a pansori genius from Mokpo. Even during breaks, she continued practicing and brought laughter to her fellow actors with her charming dialect.
Shin Ye-eun also poured in her passion. She participated in the script reading with a fan, a symbol of pansori singers. Additionally, Ra Mi-ran, Moon So-ri, and Lee Deok-hwa added gravitas with their charismatic performances.
Jung Eun-chae and Kim Yun-hye, who play the top stars of Maeran National Drama Company, also drew attention. Newcomers Woo Da-bi (as Hong Joo-ran), Lee Se-young (as Park Do-aeng), and Hyun Seung-hee (as Park Cho-rok) added freshness.
In a pre-interview, Kim Tae-ri said, "I found the original work interesting and decided to appear because I was intrigued by the fact that women's national drama was meaningful and valuable popular culture."
She is also immersed in practicing pansori, dance, and dialect. She recommended viewers to "focus on how the women's national drama would look if shown with the faces and voices of attractive women of our time."
Shin Ye-eun said, "I felt many charms of national drama. I hope you also get immersed in those charms. I'm proud of 'Jung Nyeoni'. Please show your affection."
Ra Mi-ran said she chose 'Jung Nyeoni' because of Kim Tae-ri’s appearance, while Moon So-ri stated, "I learned pansori in my 20s and went to Mokpo with Kim Tae-ri for dialect lessons."
'Jung Nyeoni' is set in the aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s. It depicts the competition, solidarity, and brilliant growth surrounding 'Jung Nyeoni', a born pansori genius challenging to become the best national drama actor.
It is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name. The story follows the journey of the protagonist 'Jung Nyeoni' to become a star in a national drama troupe (a genre where all roles are played by women).
Directed by PD Jung Ji-in of 'The Red Sleeve'. Starring Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran, Jung Eun-chae, Kim Yun-hye, and special appearances by Moon So-ri and Lee Deok-hwa.
'Jung Nyeoni' will premiere on October 12th at 9:20 PM.
