Actor Kim Nam-gil has joined efforts to raise awareness about anti-Japanese resistance history.

Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University announced on social media on the 12th, "We have released a video on 'Joseon Minjok Daedong Dan,' the largest anti-Japanese secret society in Joseon, in collaboration with Kim Nam-gil."

The video is about 7 minutes and 12 seconds long. It features 'Joseon Minjok Daedong Dan' (hereafter referred to as Daedong Dan) and the exploits of its leader, Kim Kaji. It revisits their resolute independence spirit.

The video also introduces the exiled prince's operation. "Kim Kaji led the exile operation to demonstrate national resistance against Japanese oppression," it explains.

Despite the operation's failure, they continued to resist until the end. He wrote the Daedong Dan declaration and sent it to Korea. This inspired the second independence movement.

Professor Seo stated, "Although Daedong Dan produced 83 recipients of national orders, the most from a single organization, it is not mentioned in textbooks. I wanted to bring attention to them."

Kim Nam-gil narrated the video, promoting the ancestors’ achievements to both domestic and international netizens. He provided information about Daedong Dan, which was not widely known.

He is contributing to raising awareness of Korean history. In February, Kim Nam-gil participated in narrating a video about the Dokdo Sapsal dog, and in May, he took part in a campaign to support Korean language education.

He said, "I am happy to participate in the project led by Professor Seo Kyung-duk to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Liberation Day," adding, "I hope many netizens will watch it."

Meanwhile, Kim Nam-gil will appear in the Netflix series 'Trigger' and SBS-TV's 'The Fiery Priest 2.'
