The movie 'Bagonia' (directed by Yorgos Lanthimos) made its debut at the Venice Film Festival.
'Bagonia' was screened for the first time worldwide on the 29th at 2 AM (Korean time) at the Sala Grande theater of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
'Bagonia' is the English remake of the Korean film 'Save the Earth!' (directed by Jang Joon-hwan) and it was invited to compete in the festival's official selection.
The film follows the unique story of the original, starting with two young men who believe in an alien invasion theory and kidnap a major corporation's CEO, thinking he is an alien.
Hollywood actress Emma Stone plays Michèle, who is kidnapped and tortured, a character that was originally portrayed by Baek Yoon-sik in 'Save the Earth!'. She even shaved her head for the role.
This is Stone's second collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos, who won the Best Actress award at the 96th Academy Awards for her role as Bella in 'Dogtooth' (2004).

Stone commented on her experience with the film, saying, "I love Lanthimos' world and the characters he created. It felt comfortable and free on set."
The performances of the actors and the blend of black comedy received praise. There was applause during the screening, and a standing ovation lasted for seven minutes after the film ended.
International media also gave positive reviews. 'Deadline' stated, "A mad journey. A master’s return to form," calling it "a dizzyingly insane story."
'Screen International' praised, "Stone and Jesse Plemons deliver dynamite performances in Lanthimos’ explosive thriller."
The 'Daily Telegraph' also commended, "Lanthimos skillfully maximizes the comic tension. The balanced performances are commendable."
Meanwhile, 'Bagonia' is set to be released domestically on the 11th.
