A Tragic Incident Fueled by a Homeless Man's Anger
A shocking incident occurred in Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province, where a man in his 50s attacked an unknown citizen with a weapon while the victim was eating chicken in a public place.
It has been revealed that this incident stemmed not from a simple dispute but from a conflict surrounding a homeless space.

According to JTBC's "Incident Headquarters," on the night of the 21st at around 11:15 PM, a 50-year-old man, referred to as Mr. A, was arrested on-site for allegedly stabbing Mr. B with a weapon at a platform installed by the riverbank in Jeongeup.
At the time of the incident, Mr. B was sitting on the platform eating chicken with two acquaintances when Mr. A suddenly approached them, questioning, "Why are you eating chicken here?" and "Why are you blocking the passage and causing trouble?"
Mr. B's group responded, "We are just eating on the platform, so please leave us alone," but the situation rapidly escalated.
One of Mr. B's acquaintances, referred to as Mr. C, explained, "The platform we were sitting on was a space established by the local government for citizens. At that time, all members of our group were sitting on the platform, so it wasn’t blocking the path at all."
A Dangerous Attack That Threatened Life

After the argument, Mr. A hurled insults, threw chicken and cigarette butts at the group, and immediately stabbed Mr. B.
Mr. B hurriedly fled to a nearby parked car and locked the door, but Mr. A continued to chase him, threatening him by striking the car door with the weapon.
According to Mr. C's testimony, "The moment my brother was stabbed, he pushed the assailant away, which is why he is still alive. The hospital said that if the weapon had gone in just 5mm further, he would have died on the spot."
The hospital's diagnosis stated, "The left fourth rib was completely severed, penetrating the left pericardium (about 7mm in diameter). Had the injury progressed another 5mm, it would have affected the left ventricle," highlighting how perilous the situation Mr. B faced was.
Mr. B was urgently transported to the hospital for surgery and is reported to be out of life-threatening danger.

However, he has a deep wound inside his chest that has caused blood to accumulate around his heart, and due to rib fractures, he is struggling to breathe on his own and is currently relying on an oxygen ventilator in the intensive care unit.
Mr. A, who was arrested on-site for attempted murder, reportedly stated during police questioning, "I had been homeless in the space where Mr. B's group was, and I felt resentment for losing that space, which led me to commit the crime."
