Hwang Hee-chan, Captain and Starter for Wolverhampton in League Cup Match
Korean forward Hwang Hee-chan of Wolverhampton in the English Premier League (EPL) started as captain in the League Cup match but showed some disappointing moments, including a missed penalty.
On the 27th (Korean time), Hwang Hee-chan captained the team and started in the Round of 32 match against West Ham United in the 2025-26 English Carabao Cup at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England.
Wolverhampton won the match 3-2, marking their first victory of the season in their third game, but it was a match filled with regrets for Hwang Hee-chan.

After about six months, Hwang Hee-chan had the opportunity to start, having last played as a starter in the FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers in February. He had been substituted in the final moments of both EPL matches this season until now.

In a crucial moment during the first half, Hwang Hee-chan, who was actively moving in the front line looking for scoring opportunities, took a penalty kick after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was fouled. Unfortunately, his shot hit the left post.
Fortunately, Rodrigo Gomes quickly capitalized on the rebound, allowing Wolverhampton to take the lead.
Although Hwang Hee-chan continued to seek opportunities until he was substituted for Sasha Kalajdzic in the 80th minute, he ultimately could not record any attacking points.

However, the team secured victory thanks to the performance of Jørgen Strand Larsen, who came on as a substitute in the second half.
Wolverhampton went ahead with Gomes' opening goal but allowed a turnaround with consecutive goals from Tomas Soucek and Lucas Paquetá at the beginning of the second half.
Nevertheless, Larsen scored an equalizer in the 82nd minute and successfully added another goal just two minutes later, leading Wolverhampton to their first win of the season.
