The documentary covering the Itaewon disaster has been nominated for an Emmy Award. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the 45th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards on the 26th (Korean time). A total of 65 categories were nominated.

Paramount+ original "Crush" was nominated for "Outstanding Investigative Documentary." It was selected as one of five documentaries.

It competes with Netflix's "Victim/Suspect," "Scout's Honor: The Secret of the Boy Scouts of America," HBO's "The Redeemed Complex," and PBS's "Global Spyware Scandal."

"Crush" is a documentary about the Itaewon disaster that occurred on October 29, 2022. It is a two-part series that was first released on the US OTT platform Paramount+ in October of last year.

The documentary includes testimonies from survivors, bereaved families, and witnesses, including footage shot on mobile phones from the scene at the time. It also highlights the inadequate response from the government.

However, "Crush" is currently unavailable for viewing in Korea due to copyright issues. It is known that only the US broadcasting rights were secured at the time of its release.

Meanwhile, the awards ceremony will be held at the Palladium Times Square in New York on September 26-27.
