Taxi Crash Near Hongdae Station Injures Three
A taxi suddenly rushed and hit pedestrians near Hongdae Station in Mapo District, Seoul.
According to the police and fire authorities on the 21st, a report was received at 6:42 PM regarding a taxi that had rushed in a back road in Seogyo-dong, Mapo District, Seoul.

In a video released by YTN, the taxi can be seen leaning against a building wall. Some startled citizens quickly moved out of the way.
In this incident, a taxi driver in his 60s and two pedestrians in their 40s sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
About ten police officers and 25 firefighters who arrived at the scene responded quickly and completed the rescue operation in approximately eight minutes.
Park, who operates a restaurant near the accident site, explained, "The taxi hit a man walking on the street after suddenly accelerating while dropping off a passenger. This road has a steep incline and is dangerous, especially in winter when accidents frequently occur."

Fortunately, the pedestrians who were hit managed to avoid serious injuries thanks to being positioned between the taxi and the store wall.

A police official stated, "The passenger car accelerated for reasons unknown and collided with two pedestrians while traveling towards the exterior wall of a nearby store."
The police also added, "The driver has been transported to the hospital, so a precise statement will be confirmed later." Initial investigations suggested that the taxi driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and the police are currently analyzing CCTV footage to ascertain the exact circumstances of the accident.
