Joo Ho-min Files Criminal Complaint Against YouTuber 'Ppkka'… Attention on Possibility of Identity Disclosure
Webtoon creator Joo Ho-min has recently filed a criminal complaint against the cyber bully YouTuber 'Ppkka'. Interest is growing regarding the potential disclosure of Ppkka's identity, which has been shrouded in mystery until now.
On the 20th, attorney Jung Kyung-seok, representing BJ Grape Juice (real name In Se-yeon), announced through his YouTube channel, "We received a request for investigation cooperation from a police station in Yongin," stating, "Joo Ho-min has filed a criminal complaint against Ppkka, and the police station that received this complaint sent a request for cooperation in confirming the identity of the party involved."
Joo Ho-min is understood to have filed his complaint with the Yongin Western Police Station.
The background of this complaint lies in a controversial video where Ppkka discussed an incident related to Joo Ho-min's family in 2023.
In the video, Ppkka posted content rebutting and criticizing Joo Ho-min's stance regarding the case in which Joo Ho-min had accused the special education teacher for his son, who has developmental disabilities, of child abuse.
As a result, it appears that Joo Ho-min has opted for legal action on charges such as defamation.
Civil Lawsuit and Criminal Complaint Proceed Simultaneously… Difficulties in Confirming Ppkka's Identity
Joo Ho-min had already submitted a complaint to the Suwon District Court against Ppkka on April 29 and also made a request for fact-finding to confirm Ppkka's personal information. However, in June of this year, Ppkka's application for restricted access was accepted by the court, leading to difficulties for Joo Ho-min's side in obtaining Ppkka's personal information.
To proceed with the lawsuit, basic identity information such as the defendant's name, date of birth, and address is required. With the confirmation of such information becoming challenging, the progress of the civil lawsuit became uncertain. Consequently, Joo Ho-min's side appears to have additionally pursued a criminal complaint as a new legal response.
With the progress of the criminal complaint, the possibility of Ppkka's identity being confirmed and the likelihood of his face being disclosed through police investigations and summons has increased. Attention is focused on whether Ppkka, who has kept his identity concealed until now, will finally be revealed.
So far, Ppkka's identity information has been partially confirmed through the civil lawsuit filed by BJ Grape Juice.
During the defamation lawsuit by Grape Juice, it was revealed through the discovery process of the U.S. federal court that Ppkka is a man in his 30s named Park.
