Controversy Over Hygiene Conditions at a Pension in Jeju, 240,000 KRW per Night with Mold and Cigarette Butts
A pension in Jeju has become a hot topic on online communities due to its poor cleanliness, drawing public outrage from internet users.
On the 20th, a post titled "Please take a look at the class of a 240,000 KRW accommodation in Jeju for one night" was uploaded to an online community. The post included photos of mold growing on the front door, dust accumulating on window frames, used bathroom soap, and kitchen utensils with questionable hygiene conditions.
The author, Mr. A, expressed discomfort by saying, "As soon as I entered the accommodation, there was a strong smell of mold," and added, "There were stacks of cigarette butts in the outdoor area, and there was no washing machine inside, so I had to do my laundry outside."
He also mentioned that "there was not even a tongs or scissors in the kitchen, and when I asked the owner, I was told 'we don't have scissors.'"

Shocking Reality of Basic Services at the Accommodation
Furthermore, Mr. A pointed out that "the frying pan had all of its coating peeled off, the kitchen knife was broken, and the cutting board had knife marks," indicating that even basic kitchen items were not properly equipped.
He asked the owner if it was misleading advertising, but the owner reportedly became angry and countered, asking, "What is misleading advertising?"
When he checked out, the owner claimed to feel wronged, and when confronted about the pots filled with cigarette butts, he received the irresponsible response, "I left them for guests to smoke, and if you don't smoke, just don't pay any attention and walk away."

As this post rapidly spread online, the pension owner ultimately expressed his intention to fully improve the facilities through an apology letter.
On the afternoon of the 20th, the author claiming to be the pension owner stated, "Reading the comments made me think a lot," and explained, "During my first call with the guest, the criticism was about the lack of kitchen utensils, not the management status, so I failed to recognize my mistakes."
The owner admitted, "Having been in this business for a long time, I think I lacked awareness of facility issues," and apologized for not maintaining cleanliness. He also promised to pay more attention to cleaning and managing even the parts he previously overlooked, such as cleaning the window frames.
