
Netflix series 'Squid Game' has won 6 awards at an American popular culture award ceremony.
On the official website of the 'Gold Derby TV Awards' on the 19th (Korea time), the winning works and recipients were announced. 'Squid Game' swept the major awards, proving its status.
First, 'Squid Game' was nominated for the Best Drama Series award. Actor Lee Jung-jae, who plays the lead role of 'Seong Gi-hun,' was named for the 'Best Actor in a Drama' award.
The awards for Best Supporting Actress went to Kang Ae-sim (played by Jang Geum-ja), Best Supporting Actor to Choi Seung-hyun (played by Thanos), and Special Guest Actor to Gong Yoo (played by Ddakji Man). The drama also received the Ensemble Award of the Year.
This award ceremony was held for content released between 2024 and 2025. 'Squid Game' has consecutively succeeded with Season 2 (December 2024) and Season 3 (June 2025).

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his gratitude during the award acceptance speech, stating, "I sincerely thank everyone involved and the fans for giving such a wonderful award to 'Squid Game' and the actors."
He continued, "Sometimes, there were disappointments when expectations for wins didn’t match reality. It seems that the disappointments have been compensated with beautiful awards. I will pay more attention to 'Gold Derby' from now on."
The Gold Derby Awards is a popular culture award ceremony that honors 30 categories, including drama, variety shows, animation, and film. This year marks its 22nd edition.
