Disney and Pixar's animated film 'Inside Out 2' has become the highest-grossing animated feature of all time. It has reached the top in terms of global earnings.
According to Box Office Mojo, 'Inside Out 2' surpassed a global cumulative revenue of $1.46276 billion (approximately 2 trillion KRW) as of the 23rd. This record makes it the highest-grossing animated film globally.
The previous highest-grossing animated film was 'Frozen 2' (2019). 'Frozen 2' had a global cumulative revenue of $1.45368 billion. 'Inside Out 2' exceeded this by $9.08 million (approximately 12.57 billion KRW).
'Inside Out 2' was released domestically last month. It has attracted 8.13 million viewers and is currently enjoying box office success. Among animated films released in Korea, it is the third highest in cumulative audience, following 'Frozen 2' (13.76 million) and 'Frozen' (10.32 million).
'Inside Out 2' is the sequel to 'Inside Out' (2015). The original film also gained significant popularity domestically. It surpassed 4 million views within 25 days of release and had a final domestic box office score of 4.97 million.
This installment delves into the inner mind of Riley, an American girl entering her teenage years. New emotions such as 'Anxiety', 'Confusion', 'Boredom', and 'Jealousy' emerge in her mind. These are represented by characters like Joy, Sadness, and Anxiety.
The film has received widespread acclaim. Riley's coming-of-age storyline in particular leaves a lingering impression. Its comforting message relatable to adults, imaginative story, and creative progression are cited as the reasons for its popularity.
