The movie ‘Wicked’ (directed by Jon Chu) will premiere worldwide in South Korea.

Universal Pictures announced on the 25th that “‘Wicked’ will be released in theaters in South Korea on November 20, making it the first country to premiere the film globally.” A ‘World’ featurette that embodies the world of ‘Wicked’ was also released.

This is the first global release date. It is scheduled for two days earlier than the North American release (November 22). The South Korean film industry, which has greatly loved musical films like ‘Frozen,’ ‘Aladdin,’ and ‘Wonka,’ will be the first to welcome it.

Musical Film

The ‘World’ featurette video was grand. It offered a glimpse into the vast and detailed universe of ‘Wicked.’ The dedication of the production team and actors who brought the world to life was particularly impressive.

The production team directly constructed sets for major locations in the movie, such as Emerald City and Munchkinland. They even planted and cultivated 9 million real tulips on the plains, capturing them on screen.

Director Jon Chu emphasized, “I wanted to provide the best immersive experience for the audience. If you want it to feel real, you have to build it all for real.” The actors were also impressed by the passion of the production team.

Ariana Grande (Glinda) remarked, “Most of the sets were actually built. A world never seen before has been created.” Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) also said, “A fantastical world has been brought to life.”

Glinda

‘Wicked’ is a musical film. It tells the story of the friendship between ‘Elphaba,’ who has not yet discovered her true power, and ‘Glinda,’ who has not yet discovered her true nature. Unexpected crises and adventures unfold.
