A 60-Year-Old American Man Threatens Bakery Manager with Weapon Over Tiramisu Taste Disappointment, Receives Fine
A 60-year-old man of American nationality threatened the manager of a bakery with a weapon after finding the taste of a dessert he ordered unsatisfactory. The man has been sentenced to a fine by the court.

On the 15th, the Changwon District Court's Criminal Division 7, presided by Judge Lee Hyun-joo, announced that it had imposed a fine of 2 million won on Mr. A, who was charged with the offense of special threats.
Mr. A, an American residing long-term in South Korea, was prosecuted for threatening the manager with a weapon at a bakery in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, after being dissatisfied with the taste of the tiramisu he ordered last May.

At the time of the incident, Mr. A called over the 30-year-old manager, Mr. B, expressing his dissatisfaction with the tiramisu, saying, "This is different from what I ate in America. What kind of tiramisu is this? If this is tiramisu, I will cut off my finger," while threatening him with a weapon he pulled from his pocket. This behavior fell under the category of special threats and was subject to legal punishment.

Initially, the prosecution issued a summary order imposing a fine of 2 million won on Mr. A; however, he contested this and requested a formal trial. The court concluded that "there have been no changes in circumstances before and after the summary order, and considering the circumstances of the incident, motivation, means, and consequences, the summary order's fine does not appear excessively heavy," thereby maintaining the original fine.
