Controversy Over Failure to Fulfill 'Donation from Artwork Sales' Promise

Previously, in December 2022, Moon held a charity exhibition in the form of a bazaar at her gallery located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

At that time, she announced that she would sell works donated by 36 artists through an auction and use the profits to fund art education projects for 'youth preparing for independence' through a nonprofit foundation.

However, in October of last year, an allegation was made that the actual donation had not occurred, which led to a police investigation. Trace of financial transactions revealed that the sales proceeds were deposited into the fundraising account without withdrawal records. There was no evidence or records indicating that the money was used elsewhere.

Moon Claims to Police, "I Forgot After Delaying Due to Low Amount"

During the investigation, it was reported that Moon stated, "The amount raised was less than expected, so I delayed the donation, and then I forgot about it while I was quite busy."

The police explained, "Although the donation was not made, the raised funds were not used for personal purposes, and there was no intent to deceive the artists or commit embezzlement."

As a result, Moon has been cleared of legal responsibility, and this incident will remain a social controversy over the 'failure to fulfill the donation promise.'
