Controversy Over PSY's Free Performance, Tak Hyun-min "It Was Not My Request"

On the 15th, during an appearance on MBC radio, Tak stated, "Singer PSY said he would not receive a guarantee," refuting claims that he requested a free performance as "rumors."

He noted, "After taking on the production for this eve ceremony, I thought about which singer would match the happy and enjoyable mood, and I could only think of PSY."

He continued, "I called to greet him and hesitantly brought it up, but he said he would think about it and then hung up," recounting the situation at that time.

Tak explained, "But then I thought it might have been unnecessary to ask. I didn't think I could meet the guarantee, and PSY really cares about his performance, so a lot of costs and preparation are involved."

PSY's Voluntary Free Performance and Event Budget Issues

Tak revealed, "The overall budget was tight, and after considering various factors, I thought it wouldn't work out, so I sent him a text saying, 'Let's pretend I didn't say what I mentioned before. It's okay if you don't want to do it. I'm sorry since you are busy too.'"

To this, PSY responded, "If you say that, there's no way I can back out," and thus suggested voluntarily that he would not receive a guarantee, according to Tak.

Regarding PSY's decision, Tak expressed his feelings, saying, "I was very grateful and also felt sorry."

He also shared that there were difficulties related to the event budget.

He stated, "Usually, to hold a performance of that scale, you need around 2 to 2.5 billion won, but trying to stick to that cost (1 billion) led to many unspeakable difficulties."
