Actor Kim Nam-gil meaningfully commemorates the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.
Professor Seo Gyeong-deok from Sungshin Women's University announced on social media on the 14th, "In honor of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, I collaborated with Kim Nam-gil. We have released a video highlighting hidden histories in the city."
Kim Nam-gil and Professor Seo guided viewers through historic sites of the independence movement, including Bukchon Village, which was protected by the architectural king Jeong Se-gwon, the house Dilkushah belonging to Albert Taylor, and the Yun Dong-ju Memorial Hall.
They reflected on the spirit of the independence activists who sought to preserve the identity of Joseon. Professor Seo stated, "I wanted to introduce lesser-known sites of the independence movement.”
He added, “I hope to inform overseas tourists about our history and assist them in visiting." Kim Nam-gil also expressed, "I hope many people will visit these historic sites."
He shared his thoughts, stating, "I wondered if the peace we enjoy today is made possible through sacrifices that remain unseen from (the past). I felt much healing from this experience."
Meanwhile, the video was first released in Korean, with an English version set to open next week.
