A 50-Year-Old Man Dies in a Series of Vehicle Accidents on the Road in Yeongdo, Busan

A tragic accident occurred in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, where a 50-year-old man was struck consecutively by four vehicles while attempting to cross the road.

The man was eventually transported to the hospital but unfortunately passed away.

According to the Yeongdo Police Station, it was reported on the 13th that around 7:26 PM on the 12th, Mr. A, a man in his 50s, lost his balance and fell while trying to cross the road after crossing over the central divider on Bongnae-do Road in Yeongdo-gu.

Immediately after falling, Mr. A was first hit by a passenger vehicle driven by a woman in her 30s, followed by two other passenger vehicles and one sports utility vehicle (SUV), resulting in a multi-vehicle collision.

After the accident, the drivers fled the scene, and the police are currently investigating.

Mr. A, who suffered severe injuries, was urgently transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest but ultimately died during treatment. Notably, it has been confirmed that all four drivers who struck Mr. A left the scene without taking appropriate action after the accident.

The police are currently investigating and identifying the drivers involved in the incident.

The investigation revealed that none of the four drivers were under the influence of alcohol.

A police official explained, "The drivers have all stated that they were unaware they had hit a person."

The police continue to examine evidence materials, including black box footage from each vehicle, to determine whether there was any intent to flee and to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of crossing roads at night and the duty of care required of drivers.
