Elisabeth, Phantom… Six Major Musicals Being Released Sequentially on Disney Plus
Time and money are required for what is referred to as an "expensive hobby," but large musicals are now unfolding in our living rooms.
Starting from the 6th with "Elisabeth: The Musical Live" and "Phantom: The Musical Live," Disney Plus is sequentially releasing musical works that until now could only be experienced in theaters.
First released, "Elisabeth: The Musical Live" depicts the life of Elisabeth von Wittelsbach, the Empress of Austria-Hungary, and her struggles with death and love. It features performances from Ok Joo-hyun, Lee Hae-jun, and others, capturing the 10th-anniversary performance.
In addition, "Phantom: The Musical Live" is a recording of the musical "Phantom," based on the novel "The Phantom of the Opera" (1910). Kyuhyun, Lim Sun-hye, Shin Young-sook, and others convey a story of beautiful melodies and tragic love.

But that's not all. Four more works are waiting for their release dates. On the 13th, "Monte Cristo: The Musical Live" and "The Man Who Laughs" will be released.

"Monte Cristo" is based on Alexandre Dumas' novel and was filmed in 8K cinematic quality using 14 cameras, achieving the first-ever close-up shots on stage in 2020.
"The Man Who Laughs," anticipated to be a major hit in the first half of 2025, is based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name. It was filmed in 2019 and screened in 17 theaters nationwide, achieving a box office ranking of second.
In the upcoming recording of "The Man Who Laughs," top-tier actors such as Park Kang-hyun, Yang Jun-mo, Min Kyung-ah, and Shin Young-sook will deliver profound emotional performances.
Then on the 20th, the musicals "Excalibur" and "Marie Antoinette" will be released. "Excalibur," which reinterprets the legend of King Arthur set in ancient Britain, features performances from Kai, Rin-a, Kim Joon-hyun, and others.

"Marie Antoinette" explores the dramatic life of the Queen of France who met her end at the guillotine during the French Revolution in the 18th century. The musical also contrasts her story with that of Marguerite Arnaud, a fictional character who leads the revolution with a keen interest in social injustices, featuring performances by Kim So-hyang, Jung Yoo-ji, Do Young, and Kim Joon-hyun.
In response to this news, many netizens commented, "It's great to see the works I missed," "I need to see it on the big screen," and "I've never watched a musical, but this sounds wonderful."
