Chungnam boarding male high school group sexual violence case, police investigation initiated
On the 12th, TV Chosun reported that a group sexual violence incident occurred at a boarding male high school in Chungnam, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the report, while the school took measures to separate the victim and the perpetrator students, it stated that it could not deprive the perpetrator students of their "right to education" and did not impose any penalties such as suspension from attendance.

On the 16th of last month, a report of school violence was received at the school, and the apology letter written by the students identified as perpetrators contained shocking details.
According to the apology letter, the perpetrator students had persistently touched or hit sensitive parts of the victim’s body, and even when the victim cried, the violence intensified, and more participants joined in.
The victim's mother stated, "The perpetrator students taunted, saying 'how should we hit you' and even said, 'Why are you alive? We will beat you and you'll drop out.'"
The school has determined that at least seven students from the same class were involved in continuously bullying the victim for several months.
Inadequate protection measures for the victim causing ongoing mental distress

The school has taken action by relocating the perpetrator students to different classes and moving them to another floor in the dormitory. However, despite these measures, the victim is still suffering from anxiety over possibly encountering the perpetrators and is receiving psychiatric treatment.
The victim's side expressed the need for a definitive separation through attendance suspension for the perpetrators. However, the school maintains that since the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, it cannot deprive the perpetrator students of their right to education.
Kim Gi-yoon, the lawyer representing the victim, emphasized, "If it is truly for the sake of the victim, there is a need to impose attendance suspension in addition to changing the class for the perpetrators."
In response, the victim's side has filed a complaint against the perpetrators on charges of special coercive molestation, and the police have initiated a full-fledged investigation since last week.
The perpetrator's side, in contact with TV Chosun, stated, "We feel sorry for the victim, but there were also misunderstandings."
