Battery Explosion in Laboratory of Seoul National University Engineering Building
A battery explosion occurred during an experiment at the Engineering Building No. 1 of Seoul National University.
According to the fire authorities, a report was received at 10:43 AM on the 12th regarding a fire caused by a battery explosion in the laboratory of Engineering Building No. 1. Firefighters who received the report immediately responded to confirm the presence of the fire and assess the damage.
About 40 people were experimenting at the time of the explosion.
It has been reported that around 40 students and researchers were in the laboratory during the accident. As of now, the exact status of any casualties has not been determined, and the fire authorities are conducting safety measures on-site.
The fire authorities plan to continue investigating the exact scale of the damage and the cause of the explosion after confirming the occurrence of the fire. The university is also expected to work with relevant agencies to determine the circumstances of the incident.
