Ministry of Culture, “Autumn/Winter Accommodation Sales Festa”… Up to 50,000 won discount for 800,000 people

Autumn and Winter Domestic Travel Promotion: 'Second Half Accommodation Sale Festa' Held

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization have prepared a large-scale discount event to promote domestic travel demand during the autumn and winter seasons and to invigorate the local economy.

On the 11th, the Ministry announced the 'Second Half Accommodation Sale Festa', which will be divided into autumn and winter sessions.

The autumn session will run from October 20 to October 30, while the winter session will take place from November 3 to December 7. A total of 800,000 accommodation discount vouchers worth 23.6 billion KRW will be provided to the public. This discount event focuses on revitalizing tourism in local regions excluding the metropolitan area, meaning only accommodation facilities in non-capital regions excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon will be eligible for discounts.

Additional support for special disaster areas and discount voucher usage methods

The discount benefits will vary according to the accommodation price. For accommodation products priced over 70,000 KRW, a 30,000 KRW discount will be provided, while for products under 70,000 KRW, a 20,000 KRW discount is applicable.

These vouchers can be used at various domestic accommodation facilities such as hotels, condos, resorts, and pensions, but day-use products or unregistered facilities are excluded from the discount.

Notably, additional support for special disaster areas is a key highlight.

The Ministry will offer a separate special disaster area session in addition to the autumn and winter discount sessions, providing an additional 72,000 accommodation discount vouchers from October 20 to October 30.

This applies to special disaster areas affected by wildfires and heavy rains, as well as regions impacted by last year's aircraft accident; these areas will receive expanded discount benefits of 50,000 KRW for accommodation priced over 70,000 KRW and 30,000 KRW for products priced under 70,000 KRW.

Discount vouchers can be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, one per person, through participating online travel agency channels. Once issued, reservations and payments must be completed within the valid time frame from 10 AM to 7 AM the next day.

If the discount voucher is not used, it can be reissued starting at 10 AM the next day. However, if it is not used within the validity period due to reservation cancellations, the discount voucher will automatically expire.

Kim Geun-ho, Director of the Tourism Industry Policy at the Ministry, stated, "We hope the Accommodation Sale Festa will alleviate the travel costs for the public and act as a catalyst for the swift recovery of disaster-affected areas and a resurgence of the local economy," and added, "We hope people will join us in traveling to regions where they can fully experience the charm of autumn and winter."
