“Zombie Daughter,” a hit both domestically and internationally… “Over 3.3 million, invited to the Sitges Film Festival”

The movie 'Zombie Daughter' (directed by Pil Gam-sung) is gaining attention both domestically and internationally. It has been invited to overseas film festivals, while in South Korea, it has surpassed 3.3 million viewers, continuing its box office success.

According to the integrated cinema admission ticketing system, 'Zombie Daughter' attracted 840,481 viewers over the weekend (August 8-10). As of 10 AM on the 11th, the total number of viewers stands at 3,351,404.

It has maintained the number one spot at the box office for two consecutive weeks, outpacing 'F1 The Movie', 'King of Kings', 'Ballerina', 'Smurfs', and 'Bad Guys 2'. On the 9th, it became the fastest film of the year to surpass 3 million viewers.

Internationally, 'Zombie Daughter' has also received recognition. It has been invited to the 58th 'Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival' taking place from October 9-19, where it will compete in the Panorama section.

Angel Sala, the chair of the Sitges Film Festival, praised the film, stating, "The theme of family is perfectly balanced with comedy and drama. Although it follows classic comedy formulas, it resonates with younger audiences."

The film has been recognized for its unique style and fantasy genre sensibilities. "Director Pil Gam-sung showcases an excellent harmony that transcends genre and tone. 'Zombie Daughter' is one of the important works in contemporary Korean cinema," he added.

'Zombie Daughter' is based on a popular webtoon. It is a human comedy film about a father (played by Jo Jung-seok) who embarks on secret training to protect his daughter who has turned into a zombie.
